My work at Ylopo focused on 2 areas: their real estate search & browse platform, and their design system. One important project I worked on, was redesigning the search and filtering functionality for the (responsive) web app. Before the redesign, the search functionality was hard to use, and limited, for example users were not able to search multiple locations at once. Users also had a hard time understanding the filters, and the long list was badly organized and hard to scan. I solved this by updating both the behavior and visuals of the search interactions and filter component. I also refined the search results layout, the map view, and how the user interacts with it. To accomplish this I started out with competitive research, followed best practice design patterns and worked closely with my product owner to make sure I am staying in scope and solve the right problems. The first implementation of my redesign was tested with users, and the results showed great improvements in terms of utility and usability. Users also mentioned that the redesign was clean and easy to use.
